The Founders
JAGORI (meaning "awaken woman) was founded in 1984 by – Abha Bhaiya, Kamla Bhasin, Runu Chakravarty, Gauri Choudhury, Sheba Chhacchi, Manjari Dingwaney and Joginder Panghaal with the aim of having a creative space for women to express themselves, and spreading feminist ideology to a wider constituency of women especially in small towns and rural areas.
The General Body
The JAGORI General Body comprises of Abha Bhaiyya, Jaya Shrivastava, Joginder Panghaal, Kalpana Viswanath, Kalyani Menon-Sen, Kamla Bhasin, Manjari Dingwaney, Manjima Bhattacharya, Martin Macwan, Nandita Gandhi, Pamela Phillipose, Suneeta Dhar and Vrinda Grover. The GB meets once a year.
The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is elected by the General Body and meets four times a year.
