JAGORI has a library with a comprehensive collection of resources on various women´s issues. Our collections range from books and reports to journals, magazines, research reports, articles, booklets, pamphlets, posters, films, video and audio materials and information folders on gender and related issues. Our library houses over 10000 documents in English and regional languages and about 100 English and 60 Hindi journals and magazines. We also maintain a detailed archive on women´s issues, based on clippings from 10 newspapers. We have a video library of about 500 films on women´s issues.
SERVICES
As part of regular services, we carry out information search & retrieval for both internal and external users. Current Information Alerts are provided to staff members on anything that is important towards an ongoing activity or programme of JAGORI. We invite new members and attend to visitors who come looking for information. We provide photocopying facilities and document delivery services. Queries are answered through telephone, surface mail, emails and personally. We also offer referral services to our readers. We also inform users of new arrivals through an electronic news bulletin.
Specialised services like preparation of reading lists, information packages, topic-based bibliographies, are provided on request. Data sheets and statistics are compiled on request coming through e-mails and letters from library members and people known to JAGORI. We also provide consultation services to smaller centers or NGOs for setting up libraries or information centers or similar assistance.
Collections and Resources
The Resource Centre also has a distribution and sale outlet for JAGORI publications and publications from women´s groups and feminist publishing houses from all over the country. For more information contact Mahabir Miyan at 26691219 or distrubution@jagori.org.
Information Gateway
Databases - JAGORI has a database of books, reports and other published documents. We are in the process of creating an Articles Database, which will have newspaper clippings, periodical extracts and research papers. The program used is LSEASE, a bibliographic database program.
Documentation Lists - We have a compilation of bibliographies, ready reference lists, directories, information packets and statistical reports - we are in the process of making these available in the near future.
Resource sharing & Inter-library loans - We have initiated the process of exchange of resources with other women’s groups and women’s libraries within the country. We also offer facilities of inter-library borrowing to our members and associates.
