There is a sense of shame and embarrassment surrounding women’s bodies. And girls are brought up thinking of their bodies as such. For this reason they cannot pee on the road or use toilets other than those in their home. The majority of women do not have access to toilets at home causing health problems such as constant stomach ache and dehydration. The other image, of the female body, is that of a sexual object. This body image forbids women from using public spaces alone such as walking on the street or using public toilets.
