Women on sensing danger can now alert their family and friends by using ‘Circle of 6’, a new android application that sends alerts to a specified contact group of six persons selected by the user by just pressing the icon for five seconds.

The policemen of Indore were educated about ‘Circle of 6′ endorsed by filmstar John Abraham and other advance applications and technologies under e-gender sensitisation seminar organised by Police Radio Training School, Indore.

PRTS Director Varun Kapoor said Circle of 6 is a GPS-based android application which helps people at times of need.

He said, “Since women are soft target, the application is very useful for them. They can send alert simultaneously to six numbers selected by them for emergency by just pressing icon for 5 seconds.”

“They can seek help secretly as they do not have to look for dial pad or contacts in case of any emergency and save themselves from becoming victim,” said Kapoor. “The six numbers selected by the user will not only get an alert but also the location as the application is GPS,” added Kapoor.

Kapoor said that PRTS had organised seminar on e-gender sensitisation in association with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR& D)and the police men were educated about Circle of 6, CCTV cameras, GPS, women helpline etc. The application has been endorsed by film star John Abraham and promoted by a number of social and women organisations like Centre for Social Research, Jagori etc.

Highlighting training programe being under taken by PRTS, Kapoor said, “We have been providing training to police officers from rank of Sub-Inspector to DSP under the e-investigation development project for past 18 months & have trained more than 1500 officers.” “Seminars, workshops and conferences are also organised time to time as a part of training programme,” he added.
